Power of Personal branding!

Often people don’t realize the power of branding in this current globalized world. I have often felt that most of the jobs and professionals lack this branding. Especially people working in start-ups lack this sort of self-realization and power of branding and its effects which can work wonders for their career.

One of my friends is currently working in the sales and marketing division of a startup company that specializes in retail markets. He is the one doing 90% of the sales and marketing of the startup helped by his mentor and the other senior members of the firm. I talked to him about what he does for the firm and the value he brings to the table. He has to not only find clients but demonstrate the product, do a presentation explaining the product and its uses in general, acquire the clients by making them use the product and post-sale services like feedbacks and improvements. Overall he has to do the entire sales process himself. But when I told him about this he said, he did not realize he was doing this much. According to him he only does sales, without realizing the complex processes he is involved in and is a part of which is common amongst the workers in a startup community. They learn so much and do so much without realizing that in a corporate world the value addition for what they do in a startup is tremendous and in most cases more valued.
How to brand yourself?
I had faced this question at the beginning of my career. Two years later I still am searching for the answer but I know how I would brand myself given the chance. My experiences and skills are my brands. Communicating what I have done and achieved is part of my brand.

Introduction to my brand is the skill-set I have and the qualifications I possess.
