The first and the most obvious impact of Ronaldo’s departure on Real Madrid’s economy was the reduction in the attendance in Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Imagine having half of your fans coming to watch the first match of the season. The loss from the ticket sales is something the Real Madrid board including ‘Papa Perez’ won’t smile so much about. Some might attribute it to the heat of Madrid summer which made a lot of fans to stay away from the stadium. But it’s just so far from the truth. They have been watching previous opening season’s matches with a full stadium for many years despite the summer heat.

Ronaldo’s Economics:

This had become a serious topic of debate in the financial world — how could a transfer of a single player who is not even in his 20’s be this effective for two teams was the question.

The answer- It was not just any player, it was RONALDOOOOOO.

Even KPMG had to publish a 20-page report on the ‘Ronaldo economics’ effects on his move to Juventus.

This has given Ronaldo the god-like status as he is now seen as a powerful force of nature (and economics) to reckon with.

The impact of Ronaldo’s departure is already felt in Madrid and some of them include:

  • The lowest attendance in Santiago Bernabeu stadium since 2008. Barely 48,000 fans came to support their team with a lackluster performance as they defeated Getafe in the first match of the season in La Liga by 2:0
  • Loss of 1 Million Twitter followers in 24 hours: though Real Madrid has the highest number of Twitter followers(37m); after the announcement of his transfer to Juventus in July 2018, Madrid’s Twitter followers slumped by 1 million in just 24 hours(and still keeps reducing) and we know how it also impacts their finances).
  • Real Madrid Jersey sales; it also reduced drastically as their yearly summer and preseason sales slumped to more than 30% losses worldwide. Who wants to buy a №7 Mariano Madrid Jersey. They prefer Juventus №7 Ronaldo(and Los Bianconeri have been smiling to the bank).
  • As per Reports Juventus share price has gone up since Ronaldo joined them in Summer.

What a huge loss for Real Madrid was a big gain for Juventus F.C.

At the end of the season, Real Madrid finishes trophyless, knocked out of UCL (Champions 3 times continuously)by Ajax, defeated in the El Clasico’s, and changed managers. While Juventus did not do well in UCL and Coppa Italia, they did win the Serie A.

Ronaldo has changed and improved the fortunes of Juventus since they brought him to Turin. Ronaldo economics is powerful and would be studied for a very long time.

And Ronaldo at the end of the Season has added another International Trophy to his name:- UEFA Nations League.
